Title: Supervisor Area Zone Operations Location: United States-California-San Francisco-Martinez Other Locations: This position supervises the AMORCO dock and is critical to the successful operation of this Logistics facility. This supervisor provides oversight for assigned zone to ensure safe, environmentally sound and optimum operation for units in zone, for both logistics and refinery managed assets. This role is the primary field representative for effective management and oversight of assigned Tesoro Logistics Operations assets. This position mentors Operators, coaches Shift Supervisors, focuses on development of unit personnel's ability to safely operate and efficiently utilize process equipment, anticipates operational problems, troubleshoots and responds to problems quickly. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include: * Executes instructions from Superintendent and Logistics management and ensures assigned area/zone operations are conducted safely, efficiently and in an environmentally sound manner to comply with operating plan through regular field presence. * Fills in for Shift Supervisors as needed. * Promotes operational excellence and assists team in identifying opportunities to optimize process unit performance, standardize work processes and streamline workflows. * Acts as a change agent to instill continuous improvement mindset. * Regularly communicates process unit data to shift teams and logistics management to promote understanding of current conditions and issues/problems impacting performance. * Analyzes suggestions to determine if substantive and sustainable improvements are feasible and presents to management for approval. * Troubleshoots unit performance issues and mentors team to improve quality of issue identification and resolution. * Interfaces with Process Engineering, Maintenance and Logistics support personnel regarding unit operating issues. * Supervises staff and ensures personnel are resourced and trained to successfully perform their jobs. * Initiates selection, promotion and corrective actions when appropriate and is accountable for fair and uniform application of human resources policies. * Coordinates process hazard analysis and completes assigned management of change (MOC) action items. * Coordinates incident investigations and follow-ups to ensure remedial action was taken. * Conducts safety audits. * Maintains area/zone operating procedures and training manuals. Candidates considered for this position MUST have a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible petroleum refinery operations experience and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a front-line supervisor. Required qualifications: * Experience with Process Safety Management work processes (change management, incident investigation, Hazops, etc.). * Demonstrated expertise in refinery safe work practices (lock out/tag out, hotwork procedures, etc.). * Demonstrated success in managing people and supervising employees. * Physical ability to perform essential job duties and access all areas of the refinery including use of stairs and/or ladders to inspect critical process and mechanical equipment. Work may be conducted during periods of inclement weather. * Willingness and ability to work flexible or extended hours, including nights and weekends as needed in process operations environment. * Must be available to respond to upset conditions during off-hours.
