Location and team

DNV KEMA Sustainable Use Services group is seeking a Business Development Principal that may be based in any KEMA office in the U.S. The successful candidate will manage and strengthen existing utility customer relationships at the senior level by presenting new or next generation programs or technologies, targeting primarily the commercial and industrial customer classes. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to develop new relationships that better position KEMA over the long term to grow revenue.

Tasks may include

• Playing a lead role in DNV KEMA's Sustainable Use Services business development efforts by helping to drive revenue growth through the sale of new services to existing customers
• Developing, maintaining and applying knowledge about current and notable market issues and technology advancements
• Ensuring effective communication within DNV KEMA to guide development and launch of new programs
• Presenting to a variety of organizations including utility management, regulatory agencies and industry conferences
• Preparing proposals, white papers and written reports that demonstrate thought leadership
• Staying abreast of energy efficiency and sustainability developments
• Participating in trade shows and events
• Monitoring regulatory and legislative activity to identify opportunitites

What we're asking

• A bachelor's and an advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in engineering, environmental science or business
• 10+ years experience in energy efficiency, demand side management or similar. A solid knowledge of energy efficiency technologies and practices required
• 5+ years experience selling and managing business development efforts at utilities for energy efficiency services, sustainability services, or energy efficiency technology
• Knowledge of national, regional and local energy efficiency initiatives
• Highly-polished communication skills-written and oral
• Technology savvy
• Ability to develop and deliver excellent client-facing presentations
• Ability to transition quickly between tasks, regions, and programs
• Solid problem-solving capabilities
• Creativity and attention to detail
• Developing an understanding of the relevant DNVKEMA Energy & Sustainability product set to cross-sell
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively with different teams
• Ability to travel regularly throughout the US; up to 75%
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2007, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Ability to satisfactorily pass a background check
