The ERS will be responsible for all duties pertaining to Fire, Rescue, Emergency, and Environmental hazards according to policies, standards, and codes of practice, procedures and work practices. The Emergency Response Specialist responds to all emergencies, assess and apply the appropriate fire, rescue, and medical protocols including medical treatment techniques at the site.
The ERS provides leadership and training to operations Fire and Rescue team members and provides input into the effectiveness of the program and may accountable for planning and training relating to Fire Protection, Fire Team, Rescue Team, Medical emergencies, and environmental emergencies. The incumbent will ensures effective emergency response by providing a professional application of skills and techniques at emergency scenes. The ERS provides an independent professional assessment and treatment within the boundaries of their professional protocol for effective and adequate medical attention to illness or injury. The incumbent will work to maintain safe operation within their shift team by complying with the Life Safety Rules and Emergency Services Operating Guidelines. Provides a leadership role towards programs/processes that promotes health, safety, prevention and environmental due diligence while adhering to applicable legislation.
This position is the focal point for all emergencies on Shell Albian Site and its agreed mutual aid response area.
1. Provide Safety & Emergency Service leadership by example. 2. Prepare and update Emergency Service equipment, Fire Protection equipment, protocol and training materials to meet the requirements for safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Emergency Response equipment. 3. Conduct classroom and field training/drills as required by Emergency Services. 4. Measure and evaluate the Emergency Response requirements. 5. Maintain all Fire Protection systems. 6. Support the Mine and Plant areas and support Shift Team leader as required. 7. Stay current with applicable governmental regulations, which involves Emergency Response. 8. Conduct Site Safety and Fire Code inspections in accordance with Emergency Services maintenance programs.
This position Reports to the Shift Emergency Coordinator.
Requirements:
Minimum number of years of related work experience required: · 5 years experience (preferred) in practical applications of emergency management/response · Previous work in and integrated Emergency Services Department
Required Behavioral Competencies: · HSSE Leadership and Commitment · Emergency Response · Incident Investigation and Reporting
Technical/Other Certifications Required: · NFPA IFSAC / PROBOARD 1001, 1002, 1003, 1081 Advanced Exterior, 1021 level 2, 1041 level 1, 472 Technician · EMR or EMT-A EMT-P in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics. · Current CPR Level C · Current ITLS · NFPA 1006 or Equivalent · Alberta Mine Surface Mine Rescue Certification
Additional Requirements: · Physical effort – moderate to strenuous, must meet physical agility, strength, fitness and vision requirements. · Physical Environment – Mine and Plant activities in and around mining / industrial equipment with exposure to extreme temperature variations. · Sensory Attention – Normal sensory attention and diversity of task. Hearing – normal to acute to cope with high decibel levels when communicating within operating equipment. Eyesight – normal. · Motor skills – adept at working with a variety of small to large tools used in emergency incidents. · Mental Stress – normal. · Well developed communication and interpersonal skills. · Operational understanding of both the mine and plant processes. · Strong leadership, coordinating, organizational, coaching and mentoring skills. · Ability to work as a leader in variable situations. · Exhibits strong due diligence with regard to safety and hazard identification. · Must be fluent in English.
