Overview:
The Plant Manager assumes responsibility for insuring the efficient and effective operation of the plant by overseeing and supervising all management, operation, and maintenance activities at one water or wastewater facility.
Responsibilities:
Assumes responsibility for insuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the Plant by:
a. Formulating divisional goals, strategies, and operating policies and procedures, and directing implementation of approved changes.
b. Making decisions on employees regarding employment, performance appraisal, salary changes, promotions, transfers, or terminations.
c. Insuring productivity levels are maintained through effective monitoring of staffing levels and financial requirements.
d. Guiding personnel to achieve optimum performance levels.
e. Overseeing the preparation and administration of the annual operating and capital budget.
* Ensures proper operation involving new service and repairs of facility, ensure that effluent meets applicable standard for reuses and all applicable governmental regulations.
* Assimilates and evaluates processes and power consumption for use in short and long term planning
* Evaluates and revises, when necessary, bacteriological and chemical processes, sampling programs, and contingency plans
* Prepares and maintains activity reports concerning water production, treatment and effluent reuse
* Prepares and presents oral and written report concerning water or wastewater treatment, energy consumption, budget analysis, including reports to clients and government agencies.
Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in degree science or engineering and 5-10 years experience in the operation of a water or wastewater treatment facility or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Thorough knowledge of all plant operating processes and equipment, purchasing procedures, safety procedures, governmental regulations, and company policies.
* Knowledge of water or wastewater treatment methods, process control techniques, and equipment operation and maintenance, budget analysis, and managing personnel.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written
* Must be available to respond to emergency situations as needed
* Prior management experience required
Valid Driver's License
Appropriate level of water or wastewater operator certification based on the facility managed
Requires semi-frequent standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
