This position administers refinery Human Resources programs, with emphasis on employee and labor relations activities requiring working knowledge of Human Resources management principles, concepts, processes and tools; demonstrated consultation and problem solving skills; effective communications and presentation skills; and demonstrated knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Delivers management training, consultation and guidance regarding employee and labor relations issues, including contract interpretation, performance management and policy administration.
* Assures adherence to labor contracts by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies and practices while maintaining effective working relationships with labor union committee members and stewards.
* Coordinates company/union meetings and ensures discussions are documented accurately. Facilitates follow-up on agreed actions.
* Researches, investigates, and documents grievances and other contractual matters. Drafts responses or recommends resolution. Ensures timely handling and tracking in database. Prepares grievance matters for arbitration.
* Develops and delivers employee training for Human Resources programs, such as talent acquisition, onboarding, harassment prevention, substance abuse, and absence control.
* Administers talent management programs, including succession planning and performance management. Provides consultative services to strengthen site leadership development at varied organizational levels.
* Performs ancillary responsibilities, such as developing and communicating affirmative action plan and workforce representation goals, facilitating diversity and inclusiveness initiatives locally, representing Company at unemployment compensation hearings and workers compensation claims hearings, and administering refinery attendance control program.
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in human resources or related field typically required. Minimum 3 years human resources generalist experience in manufacturing environment.
