JOB DESCRIPTION Under the direct supervision of the Director of Public Relations, the principal purpose of the Social Media Relations Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the Company's communications and marketing efforts through social and electronic media and to assist in the development and execution of the social media communication plans, strategies and tactics.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for the position.
EDUCATION AND/OR SPECIAL TRAINING: 1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Visual Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
EXPERIENCE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 1. A minimum of five (5) years professional work experience in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Social Media. 2. Broad knowledge and application of social media technology (Internet, Intranet, Facebook, Twitter, Search Engine, Etc.) 3. Broad knowledge and application of social media trends and innovations 4. Demonstrated experience creating and managing social media marketing/customer communication initiatives. 5. Demonstrated knowledge of marketing, advertising, and public relations is preferred. 6. Solid experience at writing media materials and strong writing and editing skills. 7. Aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a customer facing environment. 8. Thorough understanding of the social media landscape including social media tools Web sites, Web design, blogs, podcasts, vlogs, online community destinations, SEO/SEM. RSS, etc. 9. Must be proficient with MS Office applications and the use of several software applications, including spreadsheets, word-processing, scheduling and presentation packages. 10. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, representatives of other utilities and agencies, outside consultants and the public. 11. Attention to detail and a commitment to the highest quality of work. 12. Able to prioritize the work in a multi-tasking environment. 13. Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters. 14. Available to work irregular hours, be "on-call" and travel as required.
