SUMMARY Technical Sales Manager (TSM) is responsible for developing product specific sales strategies, identifying potential markets, business partners and growth opportunities for the STWP Disinfecton product line (UV, Gas Feed (Cl2), and OSCG). Responsibilities include product planning (working with Regional Sales Managers (RSM), Sales Representatives and BU technical team to optimize design & offering) and, ensuring professional technical development of the Regional Sales Team, Representatives and Distributors and full market acceptance of the product line. The TSM will assist the sales team in technically selling the product line to customers. Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Primarily to collaborate with the RSM and Sales Representatives to technically sell the disinfection products to customers including consultants, engineers, owners, etc.
Drives overall product strategy, sizing and configuration, design of specific product offerings, features, benefits and competitive positioning
Develop and execute program requirements that support STWP growth initiatives. Includes liaison with sales channels and BU Operations for the implementation of programs related to sourcing requirements and sales promotions
Evaluates competitor’s products, determines market shares and market trends and informs management. Conducts competitive comparisons and evaluations between various technologies and competitors. This role will possess the broad range of market and competitive data used to develop product line and marketing strategy
With the RSM’s design strategies to maximize customer satisfaction
Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, purchasing and manufacturing and operations to develop and provide product definitions
Reports on sales activities for the product line in North America and globally and progress toward established targets and strategies
Provides technical expertise and training to other Regional Sales Managers and outside Representatives, OEM, VAR and D&D in support of product development and sales
Provides support including technical information and presentations to front line sales people
Work with marketing to develop appropriate collateral, case studies, PR and technical papers
Collaborates with sales channels to develop market specific strategies and train sales reps, engineering firms and other influencers
Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends within the industry
Produces competitive analyses materials comparing product with its key competitors
Work with the BU to prepare the most cost effective proposal and pricing on budget and firm proposals
Participate in trade shows and deliver regular presentations to prospects to enhance understanding and develop relationships
Actively participate in various trade organizations/associations and rule influencing bodies such as the AWWA/WEF disinfection committees
Represent Severn Trent and conduct business in an ethical and professional manner at all times Qualifications:
Technical undergraduate degree and 5-10 years sales and product management related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Prior experience in Technical Sales * Familiar with principles and practices of water and waste water treatment, and disinfection * Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills * Strong business development and sales experience * Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and ACT! * Exhibit strong leadership skills and must be self motivated. * Sales skills and strong technical knowledge are a must * Requires overnight travel up to 50% of the time
