Acrolein Technical Specialist
Job Duties / Functions :
Technical-related Role
• Field trips to evaluate all potential new/existing acrolein accounts with Area account managers.
• Participation in field trials/evaluations of new/existing acrolein applications.
• Time spent in the field averages between 50 – 75%.
• Potential for travel required to cover international projects as required. (Nigeria, UK, Australia, Oman, Abu Dhabi, etc.)
• Responsible for ALL technical proposals for acrolein projects within specific geographic area of responsibility.
• Troubleshoot production systems – determine viability/suitability of potential acrolein treatment depending on problem.
• Responsible for coverage/support for all field applicators/account managers within geographic area of responsibility.
• Respond to all technical requests related to acrolein within geographic area
• Work with Area Technical Service staff for more in-depth technical projects. (i.e. TSA’s)
• Provide technical review as required for Acrolein Technology Group project reports/proposals.
• Provide acrolein-specific field technical services (polarograph usage for field determination of acrolein residuals) – field-based laboratory work.
• Assist field staff with implementing new acrolein programs – design equipment configuration, source equipment for approved suppliers, assist with set up of equipment, ensure system operating as required.
• Assist field staff with optimization of existing acrolein applications.
HSE-related Role
• Acrolein training requirements: all ATS work in conjunction with Acrolein Safety Specialists to organize and conduct all acrolein training classes in each geographical area worldwide each year – these classes include full 2 day classes for BPC applicators, and numerous ½ day classes for warehouse and product transport personnel.
• Acrolein Safety Management Program (ASMP): Per BPC requirements (PSM requirements in the US), ALL locations storing acrolein (BPC storage location, or customer location where product stays on location) require an ASMP be developed and maintained. The ASMP contains all “generic” acrolein product information, as well as all site-specific application information necessary to safely and effectively manage the acrolein application.
• Coordinate with Acrolein Safety Specialists to conduct regular audits of ASMP in each geographical area on a yearly basis according to required scheduling per ASMP process – minimum of 2 audits conducted per year. (one storage location, one field application)
• Coordinate with local geographical area HSE personnel re: acrolein safety – provide training/guidance as required in conjunction with Acrolein Safety Specialists. (i.e. in Canada, Emergency Response Assistance Plan (ERAP) as required / registered with Transport Canada to legally ship acrolein within Canadian borders)
• Conduct annual customer acrolein safety awareness training with customers using acrolein.
• Oversee implementation of acrolein applicator competency program – newly trained BPC acrolein applicators must go through a comprehensive assessment program being supervised during all facets of all types of acrolein applications by the ATS in their respective geographical area. Both the applicator and the ATS must sign off on all facets of the application that they are both comfortable and confident of the applicator’s abilities to safely apply acrolein. This is a graduated level competency assessment program that is administered in conjunction with the Acrolein Safety Specialist group – all ATS are Level 3 applicators. (qualified to mentor other staff, and to sign off on their competency)
• Coordinate and work with Taft Manufacturing Corp (TMC) on priority projects as required (i.e. recent new acrolein cylinder recall, etc.), in particular logistics/transportation issues re: acrolein container cycling from field back to Taft.
• Participate in customer location risk assessments with respect to the safe application of acrolein - ensure equipment is set up properly to mitigate risk of exposure.
• Initiate/coordinate customer concerns in CustomerCare re: acrolein container issues/problems experienced in the field by account managers.
• Maintain all required safety training for field travel to customer locations.
Sales-related Role
• Main goal – increase sales of acrolein products world-wide
• Frequent customer meetings – typically field customer-based; primarily as dedicated technical support for the acrolein product line, both in a safety and technical support role.
• Attend various BPC district meetings as required/requested by local Operations staff
• Participate in industry conferences – NACE, SPE, etc.
• Generate new marketing material specific to acrolein – case histories, technical papers, etc.
• Interface with MBD group to help put together materials for marketing initiatives.
SKILLS :

EDUCATION :
* Bachelor's Degree in Science with 5+ years experience or Master's Degree in Science with 3+ years experience.
